Hillsong United - Like An Avalanche
Genesis 18v13-14
The Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Shall I indeed bear a child, now that I am old?’ Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah shall have a son.”
Just a friendly reminder to us all. Is anything too hard for the Lord?
Psalm 3v1-5
O Lord, how many are my foes! Many are rising against me; many are saying of my soul, there is no salvation for him in God. Selah. But you, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head. I cried aloud to the Lord, and he answered me from his holy hill. Selah. I lay down and slept; I woke again, for the Lord sustained me.
Let us be aware of the world around us and understand as believers our true home is in eternity with God and not this world that is fallen. When our priorities are set in Jesus our lives go against the world we live in and it gets tough. But we must look to the Lord for He is our shield from the arrows of the enemy and our deliverer for each and every new day. Let us take this verse as great encouragement to have faith in His power and change the world around us making incredible use of the gift of life God has given us.
Genesis 2v7
then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.
If God made something as intricate and complex as man from dust, imagine what He can do with our sufferings, our fears, and our weaknesses.
Titus 2v11-14
For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.
It is by the power of God that we are trained into righteousness and purity. Sometimes we tend to put it all on ourselves to be the image of Christ and when we fail we fall hard. But we must trust in God, His Spirit inside us and believe in His power, mercy, and grace to make us like Him; after all it is all for His glory so we should be confident in coming to Him to strengthen us when we are weak. PTL for His son and just the opportunity to be considered His when we don’t deserve it.
Titus 1v7-9
For an overseer, as God’s steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.
We are all called to leadership in some way or another either in certain settings with our friends, as a man is to be for a woman, or as the part of a church. Paul lays out the guidelines we all should adhere to for great effectiveness in bringing Gods kingdom to this earth and being a shepherd to the lost.
