Reading daily.

2 Timothy 4v3-5
For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

It is important for us to stay in the word daily and feed ourselves. Of course looking to others such as ministers and church leaders is a great tool for growth and maturity in our spiritual lives but we must read for ourselves the word that comes from God to know it deeply as to not be led astray. And reading by the Spirit looking for truth that supports Christ and his sacrifice not what our itching ears want to hear avoiding wandering and falling from the truth.

Remains faithful.

2 Timothy 2v11-13
The saying is trustworthy, for: If we have died with him, we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us; if we are faithless, he remains faithful for he cannot deny himself.

He remains faithful when our faith fails because he can not deny the power of his Spirit inside us. Let’s meditate on this today and praise him for the grace found in this incredible truth.

Fear.

2 Timothy 1v7
for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

Fear is the devil’s ploy to shake our faith in the power of our God. This verse is so key to our faith and quite possibly mirror worthy for a daily reminder. In the resurrection of Christ, God gave those who believe His Spirit the same that was in Jesus. We never see Jesus afraid because he knew the power, the love, and the control of the Father intimately. Let us hold fast to that truth, believe and feel that truth and recognize when fear is taking over and faith is being attacked. The only fear should be found in awe of our almighty God.

Godliness with contentment.

1 Timothy 6v6-9
Now there is great gain in godliness with contentment, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.

Godliness with contentment can bring great gain, in perspective, in life, and most importantly in His kingdom. We must remember we had nothing to begin with and our Father gave us everything and has provided greatly on our behalf. It’s our calling to bless others with what He has given us gaining traction for His kingdom not ours. Let us find true contentment in what we already have, in eternal life through Christ which far outweighs anything of this world, giving our faith to God not desire and fulfillment.

Matthew 6v26
Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

Example.

1 Timothy 4v12
Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.

No matter our age let us be an example walking in the wisdom of God proving our complete renewal by Christ; reacting in love, speaking wisdom, keeping obedience in purity and trusting in the God of all.

Reputation.

1 Timothy 3v7
Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil.

Paul precedes this verse with a list of requirements for those wanting to be leaders in the church. This verse really hits it home that our reputation amongst the people we do life with is huge. We can’t be overbearing and judging for we lose those who need us most yet we can’t say we are one thing and live another. Let us legitimately live the Christian life to those inside and outside the church so that our salvation proves real and true not fleeting and in turn giving no foothold to the devil to pull us into his trap.
