Hope > Complaint

Philippians 2v14-16
Do all things without grumbling or questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.

Let us be without complaint, shining the light and the hope found in Christ focusing on the eternal reward so graciously given to us by the maker of the universe.

Worthy of the Sacrifice.

Philippians 1v27-28
Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel, and not frightened in anything by your opponents. This is a clear sign to them of their destruction, but of your salvation, and that from God.

Paul is laying it straight here. We must live a life worthy of the sacrifice by Christ and in doing so have no fear showing our complete faith and trust is founded upon the creator of all things which is far greater than anything of this world.

Armor Up.

Ephesians 6v10-12
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

It is dire that we understand our greatest battles are being fought in the spirit, in a realm mostly unseen. When we become sensitive to this it is easier to recognize and know how to guard against it. One of the heaviest battles is in our thought life. The mental battle; where the devil tries to corrupt and pull our inner most being to him rather than to Christ. This is why the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God need to be picked up and worn daily. A soldier never forgets his helmet or his sword. Finishing up with the belt of truth, the shoes of readiness of the gospel of peace to run the race and finish well, the breastplate of righteousness to guard our hearts, and finally the shield of faith to extinguish the enemies unrelenting schemes to tear us down. God gave us all the armor and in full with His mighty power.

Psalm 62v2
He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.

Walking in wisdom.

Ephesians 5v15-17
Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

To walk in wisdom calls for us to live a life in purity and righteousness. Our focus as followers of Christ should always be to seek His wisdom in our lives in every decision and every step we take.

(Proverbs 2v6-8)
For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity, guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of his saints.

God provides this incomparable gift to those who follow him and love Him through obedience and walking in righteousness. This is why it is extremely important to be legit in our walk; if we are not we lose out on one of the most precious gifts from our Father who gladly wants to lavishly lay it upon us.

(Proverbs 3v13-16) Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold. She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor.

Worthy of the Calling.

Ephesians 4v1-7
I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift.

When we accepted Christ we became worthy of his calling; living as he did and spreading the power and love of his life (and death) to the world. Let us live according to that calling, exemplifying all who Jesus was and is to further his kingdom and remembering not to shy away from the sinner but to be an example of the great love that Jesus brought to this world.

The Verse.

Ephesians 3v20-21
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
