I Expect You To Die 2 - Quest 2 Gameplay

It's time to tackle I Expect You to Die 2, Mission 4. In this quest 2 gameplay video I try and figure out the wine cellar mission in I expect you to die 2. This game is a great escape room style puzzler built perfectly for VR. In my opinion it is one of the best quest 2 games you can buy especially for introducing people to virtual reality and the quest.

How to Stream & Record Oculus Quest 2 Wirelessly with OBS

You have a quest 2, a computer, the almighty obs and you want to record or stream yourself and your quest 2 gameplay wirelessly without a capture card. Well fellow quester It’s time to make your dreams come true!

For this setup you won’t need an expensive capture card, oculus link, virtual desktop or even a mic. All you need is your quest 2 a decent internet connection and of course OBS on your computer. Oh and make sure your computer and quest are on the same wifi. Now let’s head over to obs

Starting fresh with a new OBS scene we shall prepare your settings. First lets make your profile. Go up top to profile then new and name it whatever I’ll go with Quest Tube Baby. Go down to settings in the main screen on the lower right and from here we can keep it simple. Hit output on the left. In this video I’m going to focus on recording but for those of you who want to stream, if you have a good enough upload speed you can bump the bitrate up to 5 - 7000 for 1080p and if you are on the slower end go with 2500 - 5k and later we will make the output 720p

Now for the recording settings, I have a good bit of hard drive space but I like to go in the mid range here with the indistinguishable setting. If you have the space go for the gold if you’d like. Next I like to make it easy for myself and choose mp4 for my recording format. It’s just an easier file type to work with when editing later. For encoder settings if you have a dedicated graphics card you’ll have more options here but I’m in the mac world so I just go with software encoding.

Next up click on the video tab on the left and set up your canvas to what your computer can do I’m going to go 1080 here for the canvas and output. I leave the fps at 30 bc honestly I’m not sure what frame rate the quest 2 can consistently cast at. Then click okay.

Time for the meat and potatoes. The secret sauce is coming up. Head back up to the top and create a new scene collection and name it your favorite VR headset or whatever you want and click okay. You’ll see down below your first scene set up on the left and to the right of it is your sources. Under sources click the plus sign then hit video capture device, give it a name and then choose either your webcam or like me I have a capture card for my camera source and click okay. You can move that window down to the side or resize it and then go back to the plus icon and now choose browser source. Give it a name and change the dimensions to whatever your canvas resolution is, mine for example is 1920 width and 1080 height. And Here is that beautiful secret sauce that saves your computer power while streaming or recording and lets you stream wirelessly. In the URL box type in oculus.com/casting and tick the box for control audio via obs then click okay.

You’ll now see the web window asking you to login. Right click on it and then choose interact. Inside the pop up box, login to your oculus account. Fun fact I wasn’t able to use backspace, nor copy paste so when you enter your info make sure you do it correctly or highlight it and re-enter if you mess up. Once you log in and make it to the page saying start casting to this private link along withyour profile icon up in the right you are good to click the red x.

Now you’ll see two sources in your scene and you can click and drag the video capture source to the top inside the sources panel to put it over your future quest 2 gameplay output.

We are almost there and I just want to say give yourself a pat on the back and I hope you enjoyed that secret sauce for your nugs. if you are new to obs this is a lot of shiz but its gonna be worth thy effort.

Saunter on over to your quest 2 and slip it on. Inside your headset you can now click on the arrow share icon on the main menu and then choose cast and then cast to computer. Again make sure your computer and headset are on the same wifi give it a few seconds and holy quest daddy your casting wireless right into obs. A little tip here, I like to activate the video capture indicator so I know if somehow my cast drops. You can do this by going to your quick settings in the headset and then to settings and then device and choose video capture indicator to on. Rest assured the red dot thankfully does not show up in your casted footage.

Back to OBS You’ll see under the audio mixer the audio coming from your casted gameplay, and if you aren’t seeing any readings there, again right click on the browser source and choose interact and then unmute the mic icon and the sound icon and you are good to go. And yep your mic audio from the quest will come through as well.

For a little design house keeping you can crop your sources by clicking on them in the preview window and holding option on mac or alt on PC and dragging the red lines to where you like. You can resize in the same fashion just without holding any key. When you’re feeling good with your setup go ahead and hit start record or if you want to live your Nick Mercs dreams head back into the settings menu then the stream tab and connect the service you want to stream to and click okay and then hit start streaming.

How to Download Oculus Quest 2 Videos To Your Computer

So you’ve hit the record button inside your quest 2 head set and saved some incredible gameplay footage of your 5 under par round on Quixote valley on walkabout mini golf or that sweet video of you speed running I expect you to die, okay sorry sorry sorry I won’t spoil that for you, but now its time to go download your gameplay file to your computer so you can make a sick edit with it.

Lets start here, you need to have sidequest installed on your computer and enabled in your headset. If you have sidequest set up already skip on down to the section below and if you don’t have it set up lets get that taken care of.

get all the dirty work out of the way by first enabling dev mode on your headset. Head over to developer.oculus.com and  sign up using your facebook / oculus account and then head to https://developer.oculus.com/manage/organizations/create/

You’ll first need to verify your account by adding a credit card or a mobile phone number, I suggest using a phone number and if you want to stay private get yourself a google voice number. And thats my elliott alderson mr robot tip of the day.

Once verified Click the back to home button and create your fake dev organization by entering any name in the text box on the right for example say something like Zuck Daddy then click the understand check box and submit. Then pretend to read the disclosure agreement and hit agree. I promise this will all be worth it!

Whip out your phone and open the oculus app tap on the menu burger and then devices and then scroll down to developer mode under headset settings and then enable the toggle switch.

Jaunty on over to your computer and head to sidequestvr.com and at the top click get sidequest. Download the version that works with your operating system and then install it. If you are on windows you will have the added joy of downloading the developer drivers from oculus: https://developer.oculus.com/downloads/package/oculus-adb-drivers

If you are on mac you are good to go, on PC you will need to unzip the drivers install file and then open the usb drivers folder and then inside choose the file android_winusb.inf right click and install and then give yourself a fist bump we are almost done.

Time to make the sacred connection. Open the sidequest app on your computer and plugin your quest to your pc. Then inside the headset choose allow usb debugging and access to data. Now you can remove your headset and you will see in the top left corner of the sidequest app the icon is now green and you are connected.

Download Quest 2 Videos in SideQuest
Okay now that sidequest is set up on your Quest 2 connect it to your computer by the way this works on both pc and mac. Load up SQ and make sure the dot up in the left hand corner is green and then on the top right click the folder icon, scroll down to the folder named oculus then to videoshots and booya your files are there for the picking. Save your file by clicking the old school floppy disk icon and proceed to select where you want to save it and there you have it.

BoboVR M2 Pro Review - The Best Quest 2 Head Strap

This is the bobovr m2 pro head strap and I believe it is the best quest 2 head strap you can buy right now. Adding not only comfort but also the possibility of an infinite wireless playtime, the bobo pro is a worthwhile investment for your quest.

Of course the OG head strap that comes with the quest 2 can easily get you through your first foray into your quest gaming life. Remember downloading that first beat saber demo and then the super hot vr demo and then slinging money left and right in the oculus store to take advantage of the bundle deals. You remember.

But now that magical bliss is starting to dry off along with your headset after playing hours of thrill of the fight and you realize. Wearing the quest for an extensive amount of time feels like you’re holding a brick on your face the entire time and the battery life is shorter than a middle school relationship.

A head strap upgrade is in order and you want to know which is the absolute best? Is it oculus’s own elite? Is it the New Zealand bird company or what about this weirdly named Bobo boy. Well I'm here to tell you in my opinion and for my cranial formation the bobovr m2 pro is the best head strap you can buy.

The 13.4 ounce bobo pro is a halo design strap which just means it rests on the top of your skull. This design equally disperses the weight of the quest around your head rather than how the stock strap or even the elite strap for that matter keep the weight sitting mostly on your face but add support for the back and top of your head.

The Bobo pro strap has a much more comfortable design with heavy padding on the back where your skull slips into the strap along with the very front and the top. The thick bobo padding definitely beats the minuscule piece of foam the elite straps come with and rather than the Mohawk strap across the top of your head there are two padded nubbies for extra top side stability.

The m2 pro design has an added bonus of allowing you to rotate the headset upwards Dwayne Wayne style which is a nice feature if you need a quick glance to the outside world rather than looking through the disorienting pass though view. If you missed that reference I apologize, I guess we just grew up in (a different world)

Now the real key to the bobo pro that takes it to the next level ala the pro moniker is its detachable battery pack. If you were like me you decided to try and adapt an old battery bank to the stock strap to extend your Blaston play sessions and it worked decent at best and was definitely uncomfortable. I’m happy to say you can throw away your rubber bands and velcro. With the bobo just drop its magnetic and admittedly cute 5200 milliamp battery right on the back, and enjoy that ever so satisfying click and beep. The serotonin bump alone from attaching the battery in its slot should convince you to buy this thing. This sweet little bobo battery will give you an extra 3 hours of play time and if you opt to get a second battery for just $29.99 you can swap and charge them creating a play time of infinity. (and beyond!)

In my experience the elite head strap was better than the one that comes with the quest of but with its $40 price tag it feels a little steep for what it does. And once you start buying and rigging up a battery bank to it the bob is basically the same or even cheaper with much more comfort and a refined design. If you want a built in battery for the elite head strap it’s going to run you $100 and that’s with it being on sale.

At $60 the bobo pro strap in my opinion is the king of both comfort and battery life. I understand at the time of recording this video it is hard to find after the post Christmas snatch up but I believe it is worth the wait because this is the best head strap a quest 2 owner can buy.
