A true display of faith. This group of friends carried a paralyzed man to the top of a roof and dug through to lower him in front of Jesus for more than just healing but forgiveness. A picture for what we are called to do in prayer for the people in our lives. Very convicted by this today. Who can you lift to the roof and lower down in front of Jesus in prayer?

Death could not keep Him in its grip. I just love that phrase. Through Jesus sin no longer has a grip or control on us. No matter what that may look like Jesus has come and defeated the hell that the devil likes to create in our lives and that gives us all a reason to rejoice. Today is a new day with new grace and new mercy. Let’s choose joy and see the victory in Jesus in every little piece of life.

This whole chapter Jesus calls out the Pharisees challenging their identity pointing out the flaws in their holier than thou thinking which translates well into a challenge to our daily lives. This passage is a great reminder on how we are to serve those around us. You know…sit down be humble… there is great reward in that posture if we make it a defining part of our lives. We can learn from listening, from seeing other perspectives and serving the needs of others before ourselves. Choosing others first is being Jesus to this world no matter how small of an act that may be and we never know the impact that can make on someone’s life.

And with all your mind. That part sticks out most to me and it may have been listed last but it feels the most important. If we love God with all our mind we put our worries on Him our fears, our failures, all the things that keep us in our own heads and up at night blocking us from our full potential. Loving God with our mind is a key to true freedom.
