Deuteronomy 4v31
For the Lord your God is a merciful God. He will not leave you or destroy you or forget the covenant with your fathers that he swore to them.

In this passage we see that God is great (the power to destroy) but also God is good (merciful and will not leave you). This is a powerful truth to lean on and to focus our lives around. God is greater than all so that we place our faith in Him while knowing He is the greatest good, to trust in His will to be the very best for us.

2 Timothy 2v11
The saying is trustworthy, for: If we have died with him, we will also live with him; 12 if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us; 13 if we are faithless, he remains faithful for he cannot deny himself.

Even when we lose faith He is still faithful to us because He can not deny Himself who is in us. That is a loving God. That is grace. That is a reason for even more faith.

2 Timothy 1v7
for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

There is no longer need for fear. God has given us through His Spirit in the resurrection of Christ a power that is immortal. No longer shall we be controlled by fear but by the immense power of God, the creator of heaven and earth.

1 Timothy 6v6-8
Now there is great gain in godliness with contentment, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content.

Where do we find our contentment?

1 Timothy 4v12
Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.

Age doesn’t matter. We must set an example for both the older to respect and the younger to learn.

1 Timothy 3v1-3
The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.

If we are called to be leaders, (which I believe we all are in our own ways) there are great responsibilities that we must carry out to be effective in showing and teaching the love of Christ to others. Let us not forget these standards and take them to heart to rise above and be the best we can be.

He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church? He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil. (1 Timothy 3:4-7 ESV)
