Proverbs 18 4 The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters; the fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook.

6 A fool’s lips walk into a fight, and his mouth invites a beating. 7 A fool’s mouth is his ruin, and his lips are a snare to his soul.

21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.

Oh how powerful are our words. A warning to us through all of Proverbs 18 to examine ourselves, exercising patience before speaking. Keeping careful watch on our tongue using it for encouragement rather than defeat is a painful lesson often learned the hard way. So we must take charge speaking with Godly wisdom, listening without vain conceit, and taking responsibility for what comes of our words.

Matthew 7v7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.

Asking implies a want, seeking implies a loss, and knocking implies a need. So when we ask for answers to our prayers we must ask with confidence and humility, seek the answer with careful attention to His will which is made known by His Spirit, and knock with perseverance knowing the God of all provides for His people.

Ephesians 6v5 Obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ, 6 not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, 7 rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man, 8 knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free.

Doing the will of God from the heart. Our lives are a service to the Lord not just man. No matter what we do as followers in Christ our actions reflect that of our savior and if we serve whole heartily as Christ did for us on the cross, our efforts will be blessed. Christ gave His all, as imitators it is our responsibility to follow suit.

Ephesians 5v1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Genesis 3v22 Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever” 23 therefore the Lord God sent him out from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken. 24 He drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life.

The fall of man in the Garden of Eden separated us from our God and the tree of life. But praise God for extinguishing the flame of the sword and bringing that tree of life to us in the form of His son Jesus Christ. So that those who believe in His resurrection can share in His fruits, never to be separated again from our mighty creator in heaven.

The gift of eternity is found hanging on a tree from the beginning to the end.

2 Timothy 1v10 and which now has been manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.

Psalm 139v7 Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? 8 If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol (the grave) you are there! 9 If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, 10 even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.

No matter what circumstance we find ourselves in, the Spirit of Christ is there to provide comfort, guidance, and wisdom for us. Not to mention all the other fruits of His Spirit. All we must do is pray for it, seeking His ways and it will flow like living water.

Comfort 2 Timothy 1v7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

Guidance John 16:13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.

Wisdom Ephesians 1:17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him

Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

And to think the God of heaven and earth places all this at our disposal through the death and resurrection of His son Jesus Christ. Oh How He truly loves us.
