John 13v14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

We are called to serve others. Wash the feet, get dirty, place ourselves below others to lift them up to the hope in Christ. Christ came blatantly as a servant to set an example in flesh in blood how to love and how to live. Our greatest testimony is found in our service to others.

Acts 20v24 However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.

This is how incredibly focused we need to be on doing the work that the Lord has appointed us. The world is constantly going to distract us with its desires of money, accumulation, and temptation but all of that that is worth nothing. Our being should be set in proclaiming the true life, the true love found in Christ Jesus. The treasure is in heaven.

1 Peter 2v12 Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.

The reason to dedicate and commit every aspect of our lives to God’s teaching, to doing good, to loving others the way He has loved us through Christ, is so that the world of non believers will see the fruit of our incredible God, even when they disagree. It’s hard to deny the desire for peace and joy in our lives so let us always offer that to everyone we encounter.

15 For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people.

1 Corinthians 2v9 But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man. The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” 10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

A testament to prayer. When we decide to accept Christ the holy spirit is poured into us. A direct connection to God that speaks to us, moves us toward His will for our lives. Prayer is an immense way to focus in on that spirit, to investigate it and listen to what God desires. “For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.” So always be in petition, praying, searching the spirit for what God is doing and wants to do in our lives, even in the little things. Combine that with patience and steadfast faith, there is no limit to what God will show us.

Acts 17v24 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. 25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.

Our life, our purpose is found not by the things we create (money, power, influence etc) but rather by the One who created us. The maker of this earth doesn’t reside in a man made temple, He lives in us. That breath we just took is of God. How real is that? How intimate is that? There is nothing more empowering than knowing that the God of the universe is in our lives filling us up with each breath to do great things for His glorious kingdom.

28 ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.’

1 Peter 5v8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

The family of believers. Here is the reason for fellowship, to recognize that we all are suffering, we are under a constant attack, and our pain is a common denominator. The whole world can relate to some sort of suffering, and that puts all of mankind on the same page. And that is why it is so important to stand firm and speak of our faith and urge others to do the same, because the cross not only transcends all of that suffering, but defeats it. Pain can bring the world together. Christ can bring the world to life.
